Red coast bugs are a popular Human delicacy. They originated as a pest on an Aeluon colony. The are also eaten by spacer Aandrisks and (if you can find them) Grum. They are popular due to their nutritious inner body and small space requirements. They are often a good supplement to Stasie Food.
It is assumed but currently unknown whether Red Coast Bugs can be eaten by Laru, Quelin and Toremi.
It is plausible, but highly unlikely that Sianat Pairs can eat them, as the Pairs encountered so far are all "Whisperer" believing and as a result do not eat anything except paste from their homeworld.
Dr Chef has been known to cook them on occasion (it is the first spacer meal Rosemary eats).
